Prakti Design was established in 2008 by Mouhsine Serrar, Thomas Drouin, Mark Witt and V Ganesh, an international team of highly qualified and experienced engineers and designers.
What we do is apply state of the art but affordable and practical design and engineering processes to the design and manufacturing of environmentally friendly products that serve the basic energy needs of India's low income population.
In 2009, in order to eliminate serious living-space air pollution, conserve biomass and to slow down or halt desertification and deforestation, we developed a range of low-cost, wood- or cowdung-fuelled cooking stoves for household and institutional use.
We aim to provide an open-source, dedicated platform for other designers, inventors, academics and grassroots inventors to use their expertise to develop yet further practical solutions to environmental/social problems.
In 2009, Prakti Design was rewarded with the Special Achievement Award by the Partnership For Clean Indoor Air (PCIA), and recognized as finalist for the 2009 Sankalp Awards (India's First Social Enterprise and Investment Forum).
